We are Will and Christy Ware, the owners of The Cedar Box, an Alaska Native Art, Gift and tackle shop found in the small, beautiful town of Petersburg, in heart of Southeast Alaska. Will is Tlingit from the Taakdeintaan Clan (Raven from the Fresh Water Marked Sockeye House) and Christy was culturally adopted into the Naanya.aayí Clan (Eagle). We have been married for 27 years and have 4 amazing boys and 1 beautiful daughter . We strive everyday to raise our children with the knowledge of who they are and where they came from. We do this by living our traditional and customary way of life. This includes harvesting fish and game, loving our Creator, respecting and loving our culture and appreciating the richness that flows through it.

Several years ago we had a dream about opening a shop where we could sell Will’s Sea Otter fur products. Over the years that idea grew into something more, which became the desire to share the breath-taking art from Indigenous peoples from all over Alaska. In May of 2018 that dream came true with the opening of The Cedar Box! Now people can see and experience the passion we have for Alaska Native Art, culture and
especially people. |
